Public Info Session: Bike Lane Program

The City of Sarnia is proposing to install bike lanes on Colborne Road, Capel Street, Russel Street (north of London Road), and Cathcart Boulevard (west of Colborne Road).  This route would create a major north-south cycling corridor that would link neighbourhoods, parks, schools, shopping plazas, and the Great Lakes Waterfront Trail.  Learn more at the drop-in public information session:

Public Information Session:

Date:

Tuesday, March 27, 2018

Time:

6:30 – 8:00 p.m. (drop in anytime)

Location:

King George VI Public School

585 O’Dell Avenue, Sarnia

Purpose:

  • View the proposed design
  • Discuss/provide comments

The project would include a road diet on Colborne Road where the existing 4-lanes would be converted to 3-lanes (two through lanes and a centre left turn lane).  Road diets improve road safety by aligning opposing left turn vehicles, reducing conflict points by eliminating lane shifting, and simplifying crossing for pedestrians.  Some on-street parking will be removed to accommodate the bike lanes.

Bicycling is a big part of the future. It has to be. There's something wrong with a society that drives a car to workout in a gym.
